Ready to take the plunge into box mod vaping? You’ve tried the pods and the pens, but now you want to kick it up a notch in terms of power and features, but you’re still on a tight budget?
Then the SMOANT Battlestar 200W will be right up your alley. It has power and plenty of features at an affordable price point. With its rugged build and eye-catching design, SMOANT has produced a no-nonsense vaping mod for both the novice and the enthusiast box mod user.
What is the Smoant Battlestar?
The SMOANT Battlestar is a dual 18650 high-performance vaping device with an impressive wattage range of 1W to 200W. Sporting a compact shape, the SMOANT Battlestar has a distinctive triangular shape with rounded edges.
Things To Consider Before Buying A Box Mod
If up to now you have only used pen or pod style vapes, you will know that the advantage of those devices over a box mod is the size, discreetness and portability.
However, the benefits and features of a box mod far out way the pens and pods. For instance;
Longer Battery Life
As box mods are larger, they have more space, so you can fit more batteries inside the case. Freely available mods can take one two or three batteries, while some of the larger box mods can take four. The result of this is a longer battery life between charges and greater performance.
Superior Cloud Production
With the increased power and performance that box mods provide, they are capable of producing much more vapor per hit. With wattages hitting up to as high as 300W, these devices can be likened to fog machines!
Box mods are coming out with more and more sophisticated chips for the mod which gives the user greater control of their vaping experience. Taking the time to learn and understand the various settings lets you set the device to provide you the perfect vape tailored to your needs each and every time.
SMOANT Battlestar Review
Let’s have a closer look at the SMOANT Battlestar 200W shall we?
Out of the box, the first thing you notice about the Battlestar is its distinct shape and design features. The triangular shape and rounded edges make the mod surprisingly easy to handle and its compact size fits nicely in your pocket.
There are plenty of vents on the Battlestar’s main body and battery cover for more than adequate heat dissipation. There is no need to worry about the mod overheating.
One of the stand out features of the SMOANT Battlestar, in my opinion, is the battery housing. It’s well-constructed with four strong magnets at each corner that give a reassuring snap when you attach the battery door. No movement or rattling to be seen or heard, great stuff.
The battery terminals are spring loaded and the orientation clearly marked to help you avoid inserting the batteries incorrectly. The handy ribbon attached to the housing makes removing the batteries a piece of cake, good stuff.
The main face of the Battlestar is simplicity itself, no bells and whistles here. You have the fire button at the top, a largish OLED screen in the middle and a + – rocker switch and Micro USB port at the bottom.
Operating the mod is easy, click the fire button five times for on and off respectively. After the device has powered up, three clicks gets you into the easy to read menu system. To navigate the menu you use the + – rocker key to scroll up or down to the feature you require, simple as that.
A quick glance at the OLED screen will give you an indication of wattage, battery life, and other handy information.
On the negative side, the Micro USB port is for charging only, no firmware upgrading available with the SMOANT Battlestar I’m afraid.
If you are looking for a trendy box mod with up to date features that are not too technical or overly complicated you really should put the SMOANT Battlestar 200W TC mod on your must-buy list.
- The great ergonomic design makes it easy to hold and use
- Lots of ventilation holes to keep the mod cool
- Good build quality with solid construction
- Easy access to the battery housing, the ribbon is a great help for battery removal
- Really simple to use
Non really, just a nitpick
- The display is a bit glossy making it difficult to read outside
- Unlike other mods in this class, there are no firmware upgrades
Packaging and Contents
The SMOANT Battlestar 200W TC Box Mod comes in an attractive black and yellow box featuring a picture of the Battlestar on the front and a short list of specs on the back. On opening the box we find the mod, a micro USB for charging and a handy user manual.
Colors and Branding
When it comes to the Battlestar’s colors, you are really spoilt for choice! There is a whole range at your disposal and SMOANT keeps adding more! The mod is available in red, white, blue, black, yellow, orange, stainless steel, silver, and copper. There is also camouflage, an impressive array of colors to say the least.
As far as branding is concerned I prefer it to be discreet and SMOANT has adopted this approach, you will find the branding located at the bottom of the device, subtle and not in your face like other brands on the market.
Performance and Battery Life
Boasting 200 watts of output power, the SMOANT Battlestar has more than enough power for the average user. When the mod is set to higher wattages, it delivers the power consistently and above all accurately.
The Battlestar has great temperature control with support for stainless steel, titanium, and Ni200. The ability to customize the TCR means that you can use a range of other wire types in the TC mode.
The device has a really good battery life at low to middle wattage settings but be aware that vaping at higher wattage settings does tend to drain the battery quickly.
Charging the device is easy through the included Micro USB port and as an added feature it includes passthrough technology that allows you to continue vaping whilst the mod is on charge. As this is a dual battery mod, charging via the Micro USB will take quite some time. It is recommended to use an external charger to speed up the charging cycle.

The Micro USB port has been relocated and the battery housing now has a magnetic closure. For improved heat dissipation Asmodus has added additional venting on the chassis.

Wismec Reulaux RX2/3
The SMOANT Battlestar could be mistaken for the Wismec Reulaux as they share very similar design. The Battlestar is still the more powerful of the two devices as it achieves 200W with only two batteries, unlike the RX2/3.
The RX2/3 is the updated version in the Reuleaux series and the device comes with a replacement battery cover affording the option of using two or three batteries for power. When using two batteries the max output is 150W and if you bump it up to three the device can output up to 200W.

It looks good, it’s easy to hold and operate and has a really impressive build quality. At its price range with the features the mod has to offer you will be hard-pressed to find a better vaping device.
